About me

All about me. Or at least a few things anyway.

I’m Liesl. It’s pronounced lee-zul or lee-sul, but definitely not Le-Seal, which is what my dentist keeps calling me when my mouth is stuffed with cotton balls or sharp objects and I can’t correct him. You may know me as Jinks in the online world. I work in the corporate world in eLearning, which means training you can take at home in your pajamas. [2022 UPDATE: Due to the pandemic, I now work at home, often in my pajamas as well.]

I’ve always been weird. My best life advice is laugh it out, embrace your weirdness, and don’t be afraid of just screaming or crying sometimes. Life is messy, and it’s not a paper towel commercial – don’t clean it up. Revel in it, I mean finger-paint on the walls with that stuff.

Life is also funny and sad, so my writing reflects that. Among other things, I write about life, depression, family, parental alienation (though this is often cloaked), personal growth and bravery, and yes, my dogs. I stopped writing for over two decades of my life, and hope to never let that sort of madness happen again. [2022 UPDATE: I let that sort of madness happen again. It’s what I do, apparently.]

I strongly support marginalized communities, except nazis and terfs. They can fuck off. I’ve lost friends and family over this stuff and that’s really okay with me. No room for hate. I have adult kids/step-kids, and they’re all good people I think. One does not contact me, but I think about them every day. My mom passed away a couple years ago just before Covid hit. So yeah I have a broken heart for all the reasons, and joy for all the reasons, and that’s just called life. So don’t worry if I seem too sad sometimes, by the time you read it, I’m already rolling on the floor with my dogs. My dogs love me. I mean, other people do too, but dog love is pure love, right? Be kind.

P.S. I exist now on Mastodon
